Zoe Harwood

Zoë started dancing in Cornwall at the age of 3 and participated in Ballet, Tap, and Modern.

Over the years Zoë competed in lots of festivals winning several medals for her solo dances and also won the lead childrens role, with a touring professional dance company, as a mermaid. At the age of 21, Zoë decided she'd like to become a full time teacher at Harwood Dance, so she studied DDI/DDE in modern and tap, recently gained her Licentiate Modern, and is currently studying for her Licentiate Tap and DDI/DDE Ballet.

In her spare time Zoë enjoys choreographing and performing for local amateur dramatic groups. She has choreographed for CODS and Cotswold Savoyards, and in 2016 she won the NODA Award for Outstanding Choreographer in the South West competing against hundreds of Musical Theatre companies from Tewkesbury to the Channel Islands! In addition to this, she was nominated again in 2017!

Zoë also loves taking part in master dance classes over the UK taught by many West End and Broadway performers, and balances teaching along side being a Mummy to her 1 year old little boy!

Sara Harwood

Sara started dancing at the age of 2 and a half with her first performance being a duet at Cheltenham Town Hall at the age of 3 years! When she was 5 years old, she was chosen to accompany the film star Jeanette Scott (daughter of actress Thora Hird) to her film premier at Cheltenham’s Regal Cinema.

Sara trained in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Ballroom dance entering many dance and Ballroom competitions, and winning numerous medals and trophies.

Her teachers have included Arlene Phillips and Peggy Spencer.

Sara then danced professionally in cabaret, holiday entertainment and the dance group Body Language before starting to teach at Listers School of Dance.

After living in Cornwall for over eight years raising her family, Sara returned to Cheltenham and opened her own dancing school. In addition to running the school she also taught dance at Playhouse Theatre, Gloucester Academy of Music & Performing Arts, and Everyman Youth Theatre, whilst also choreographing numerous shows for Cheltenham Operatic and Dramatic Society, Leckhampton Players, and Cotswold Savoyards.

Years later her daughter Zoe, having trained as a dance teacher, joined forces expanding the school to its present-day size, its emphasis being to provide dance classes in a happy and relaxed atmosphere whilst still achieving excellent results.

Liz Saunders

Liz has been dancing since the age of two, sampling all styles of dance from ballet to hip hop and finding the latter to be her true calling.

Starting at CCDA in Cirencester learning ballet, tap and jazz it wasn't until Liz moved to Cheltenham at 11 that she found Street Dance and breakin'. With a passion for all styles within the hip hop community Liz has had the opportunity to train and learn from world winning bboys and hip hop dancers uk and international, including members of flawless, and continues to do so.

Liz has competed in many competitions bringing home medals, trophies and a scholarship to train at Urdang for a year in hiphop when she was 18. Recently managed by a member of Britains got Talent semi finalists 'Nemisis' she has performed at many events showcasing all styles in Street, commercial, breaking, locking and even stomping, including London Lions basketball game which was broadcast on Sky Sports.

Liz also recently choreographed two 5 minute pieces and brought Street to Strictly for the Strictly Come Dancing tour that visited the Everyman in Cheltenham. 

Rebecca Cripps

Rebecca began dancing at Janet Marshall's in Cheltenham. She was also a senior associate at Birmingham Royal Ballet. At the age of 16 she gained a scholarship to Northern Ballet School in Manchester were she trained in all styles of dance and majored in ballet.

Since graduating she has danced in the 2002 commonwealth games Manchester. For the past 12 years has worked and travelled the world with Costa Cruises and has had the opportunity to work with many different and renowned choreographers from around the world! A highlight of her career was being in the first cast on the Diadema and getting to work with choreographers Nathan Clarke, Karen Bruce, Cookie Ramos.

She is an ISTD qualified teacher in Ballet, Tap and Modern and has taught at various schools in Cheltenham and Lichfield in-between contracts.

She is very excited to become part of the Harwood dance family!

Anya Wood

Anya started dancing at the age of 3 and spent all of her childhood and teenage years dancing and performing. 

She has a Level 4 diploma in Dance Teaching specialising in Classical Ballet and a Level 5 certificate in Safe and Effective Dance Practise from Trinity College, London. She has 
also attained the ISTD Diploma in Dance Instruction (DDI) qualification in classical ballet and studied Modern to advanced level. 

Anya holds an emergency first aid at Work certificate and a full DBS disclosure.


Lily Boxall

Lily started dancing at Harwood Dance at the age of 6, starting with modern and tap and then adding ballet, jazz, combined club and body conditioning to her classes.

She has achieved distinctions in every exam she has taken, reaching Advanced level in tap and modern and completing all her Jazz medal awards. She also obtained an A* in Dance GCSE at Balcarras school. 

She began helping as a teaching assistant 8 years ago and her passion is choreography. She has won many internal choreography competitions, has choreographed for our shows and has also had success in festivals. She achieved a bronze medal at Pershore festival dancing her own choreographed contemporary piece, and she choreographed a modern solo for another student who won silver and went on to compete in the championship. She appeared in the CODS production of The Wizard of Oz at the age of ten and has had principle roles in the Balcarras school productions during her time in the 6thform. 

Lily is studying for her Modern and Tap DDE qualifications this year and is very excited about working with us at Harwood Dance!

About Harwood Dance

Harwood Dance was established over 20 years ago!

We originally started out under the name of 'Leckhampton Tappers', offering tap classes for adults, then after some years we started teaching children. Over the years we have grown and grown and the rest, they say, is history..

Nowadays our dance school focuses on classes in Baleet, Modern, Tap, Jazz and Street taught in a relaxed atmosphere. By teaching our classes without pressure we find we can obtain the best from students of all abilities.

All students are regularly assessed and take the appropriate exams to enable them to progress through the grades, and we pride ourselves on the high standard of our results. We take a personal interest in every students development including their deportment, posture and emotional development whilst ensuring they are taught correctly and safely. This allows our students to always participate in enjoyable classes.

We also offer classes in Pre-School Tap, Modern and Ballet.

For Adults we offer tap for all levels.
