This section is all about our fantastic tutors.

Anya Wood

Anya started dancing at the age of 3 and spent all of her childhood and teenage years dancing and performing.

She has a Level 4 diploma in Dance Teaching specialising in Classical Ballet and a Level 5 certificate in Safe and Effective Dance Practise from Trinity College, London.

She has also attained the ISTD Diploma in Dance Instruction (DDI) qualification in classical ballet and studied Modern to advanced level.

Anya holds an emergency first aid at Work certificate and a full DBS disclosure.

Jane Kennedy

Jane started dancing at the age of 3 in Stirling, Scotland. She studied ballet, tap and modern and continued her training when her family moved to Gloucester, with Imperial Ballet examiner Claire Corbett.

At the age of 18, Jane gained a fully funded place at the Royal Academy of Dance to study on the BA (Hons) Art and Teaching of Ballet. She graduated in 2003 with her RAD registered teachers status and ISTD modern Associate. She then completed her ballet and tap associates, before upgrading them to the new DDE. 

Since Graduation, Jane has worked in several schools and full time Academies in the South West and has continued to further her own qualifications. She is now a licentiate of the RAD, has gained her  licentiate tap under the tutorage of syllabus creator, Alison Forester and is a tutor for the Tap DDI & DDE. Jane is now working towards licentiate ballet and fellowship tap. 

When she isn't dancing she is a full time mummy to her 2 1/2 year old daughter, Grace.

Jane is very much looking forward to being part of the Harwood Dance family. 

Rebecca Cripps

Rebecca began dancing at Janet Marshall's in Cheltenham. She was also a senior associate at Birmingham Royal Ballet. At the age of 16 she gained a scholarship to Northern Ballet School in Manchester were she trained in all styles of dance and majored in ballet.

Since graduating she has danced in the 2002 commonwealth games Manchester. For the past 12 years has worked and travelled the world with Costa Cruises and has had the opportunity to work with many different and renowned choreographers from around the world! A highlight of her career was being in the first cast on the Diadema and getting to work with choreographers Nathan Clarke, Karen Bruce, Cookie Ramos.

She is an ISTD qualified teacher in Ballet, Tap and Modern and has taught at various schools in Cheltenham and Lichfield in-between contracts.

She is very excited to become part of the Harwood dance family!

Zoe Harwood

 Zoë started dancing in Cornwall at the age of 3 and participated in Ballet, Tap, and Modern.

Over the years Zoë competed in lots of festivals winning several medals for her solo dances and also won the lead childrens role, with a touring professional dance company, as a mermaid. At the age of 21, Zoë decided she'd like to become a full time teacher at Harwood Dance, so she studied DDI/DDE in modern and tap, recently gained her Licentiate Modern, and is currently studying for her Licentiate Tap and DDI/DDE Ballet.

In her spare time Zoë enjoys choreographing and performing for local amateur dramatic groups. She has choreographed for CODS and Cotswold Savoyards, and in 2016 she won the NODA Award for Outstanding Choreographer in the South West competing against hundreds of Musical Theatre companies from Tewkesbury to the Channel Islands! In addition to this, she was nominated again in 2017!

Zoë also loves taking part in master dance classes over the UK taught by many West End and Broadway performers, and balances teaching along side being a Mummy to her 1 year old little boy!

Sara Harwood

Sara started dancing at the age of 2 and a half with her first performance being a duet at Cheltenham Town Hall at the age of 3 years! When she was 5 years old, she was chosen to accompany the film star Jeanette Scott (daughter of actress Thora Hird) to her film premier at Cheltenham’s Regal Cinema.

Sara trained in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Ballroom dance entering many dance and Ballroom competitions, and winning numerous medals and trophies.

Her teachers have included Arlene Phillips and Peggy Spencer.

Sara then danced professionally in cabaret, holiday entertainment and the dance group Body Language before starting to teach at Listers School of Dance.

After living in Cornwall for over eight years raising her family, Sara returned to Cheltenham and opened her own dancing school. In addition to running the school she also taught dance at Playhouse Theatre, Gloucester Academy of Music & Performing Arts, and Everyman Youth Theatre, whilst also choreographing numerous shows for Cheltenham Operatic and Dramatic Society, Leckhampton Players, and Cotswold Savoyards.

Years later her daughter Zoe, having trained as a dance teacher, joined forces expanding the school to its present-day size, its emphasis being to provide dance classes in a happy and relaxed atmosphere whilst still achieving excellent results.

Nowadays our dance school focuses on classes in Modern, Tap, Ballet and Jazz taught in a relaxed atmosphere. By teaching our classes without pressure we find we can obtain the best from students of all abilities.
